The 7th Russian-German EP Conference

The 7th Russian-German Conference “Electric Propulsions - New Challenges” will be organized and held in Germany by the Justus-Liebig University Giessen (JLU), the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI)and the Leibniz Institute of Surface Engineering (IOM) Leipzig.

Both fundamental and applied research related to the development of electric propulsion (EP) thrusters of various types, system components and applications on board of spacecrafts designed for different purposes will be the scope of the conference. This unique and special conference has a long tradition which dates back to the beginning of 1990s. The initiators of this conference series was two outstanding scientists and friends, Horst Loeb and Garri A. Popov. We are very sad that H. Loeb past away. It is our duty to keep his spirit alive.

These conferences are a result of the work of a European-Russian Joint Study Group on advanced electric propulsion space missions and accommodate the development on the EP market within the last years. It is also a goal support the growing co-operation between Russia and Germany on both an industrial and a scientific level. For a further international co-operation in this rapid growing field, the participation of colleagues from other countries all over the world is warmly welcomed.

Russian and German, and international specialists from space industry, educational institutions, branch and academic institutes, research centers and representatives of space agencies will participate in this conference. The conference will take place in the lovely castle Rauischholzhausen near the historical city of Marburg which hosts one of the oldest universities of Germany.

The renowned chairmen – Peter J. Klar and Garri Popov - invite you to participate in this special conference. The JLU and IOM in collaboration with MAI are very glad for getting the opportunity to organize this conference. We will do our very best to make this meeting a big success, as it was in the past.
